Spooks want more Web-tapping powers
Spooks want more Web-tapping powers. A quick run down:
* The government wants to have some type of system setup on all ISP's (Internet Service Providers, ie SBC, Verizon, Tusco.net, etc.) that is like that used to wiretap phone calls.
* They want the individual ISP's to pay for the expense of having these systems installed. Meaning increased rates on internet service.
* The reason for this, (click for definition) VoIP (Voice over IP). The government has no way to regulate this and some telecoms feel that they are losing large sums of money.
The internet is a place for people to voice their opinion, like this blog, and some people feel that this medium needs to be regulated. I think not!!!! The internet is ours, the people, we have made it flourish and grow not some stuff shirts in DC. Look at how technology is so far ahead of the so-called laws of this country. Let tech go and flourish the way it should, not hinder it. Because once the government gets their hands in then it is all over.
