Senator wants to ban P2P networks

Senator wants to ban P2P networks | CNET News.com
The chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary said Thursday that a ban on file-trading networks is urgently required but agreed to work with tech companies concerned that devices like Apple Computer's iPod would be imperiled.

WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is just wrong. What about the large percentage of people that use P2P for legitimate purposes? Also do you really think that there won't be some type of loop hole in there somewhere that will come back and bite the companies that are supporting it in the ass. It would just be easier to change the copyright laws and allow more stuff to be put into the public domain. I mean do songs from 5 years ago really need to be held onto so tightly. Chances are you have not heard many of those songs on the radio recently have you?

I am going to say this here right now, if P2P networks get banned, you will see a price increase on music download sites like iTunes, Napster, etc. Why are their prices so low, to entice people to come over from P2P networks. With out them, they can increase their prices because if you want to download your music you will pay what they want you to pay. This will have a larger impact then many are aware of.

This can not be aloud to go through. If you feel The Induce Act is wrong and should be tossed in the trash go here at the EFF and use the form to let your senator know.
