321 Studios and Protect Fair Use Fight for Fair Use Week March 1-5, 2004. I should have posted this at the beginning of the week. Here is a quick summary of what this is all about:

The MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) has put a stop to our rights to make legal back up copies of our dvds. Many, including myself, want to make archival copies of our dvd collection in case of damage to the original. The courts have ruled that doing this is considered pirating. The MPAA says that they have no problem with you making a backup copy but you are not allowed to purchase the software to do this.
